After a career of teaching at St. Dunstan’s University and the University of Prince Edward Island, he turned his attention to performing and storytelling.

A lifetime of achievement was highlighted by his appointment as the very first Poet Laureate of Prince Edward Island in 2004, and receipt of the Order of Prince Edward Island in 2006.
