Frank Ledwell was born in the community of St Peters Bay in 1930, and was an accomplished and respected writer and poet. His stories and poetry captured the essence of Prince Edward Island. After a career of teaching at St. Dunstan’s University and the University of Prince Edward Island, he turned his attention to performing and storytelling.

A lifetime of achievement was highlighted by his appointment as the very first Poet Laureate of Prince Edward Island in 2004, and receipt of the Order of Prince Edward Island in 2006.
