Since it was started in 1988, the St Peters Area Development Corporation has been at the forefront of positioning the Community of St Peters at the forefront of rural development on the Island.

The Development Corporation has been responsible for injecting millions of dollars of investment in the community that has changed the face of St Peters Bay. Even a quick drive through the community reveals the Courthouse Theatre, St Peters Landing and the Circle Club, all of which were developed with or in cooperation with the Development Corporation.

One of the biggest challenges the community faced was the closure of the local school. The Development Corporation saw this as an opportunity, and developed the school into the St Peters Complex, which has turned into an important community centre and business centre and incubator. This success has been studied by many other communities faced with similar challenges.
